Bios: The Remixers

Junior Sanchez is a music producer, remixer, and DJ, known for his remixes of artists such as Madonna, Shakira, Katy Perry, Placebo, The Bravery, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, New Order, Jamiroquai Les Rhythmes Digitales, and Annie. As a producer, Junior Sanchez has also made albums and tracks for Action Reaction, Ima Robot, Princess Superstar and Good Charlotte.  Junior is currently working on the second album of New York City band Morningwood for Capitol Records.

Tommie Sunshine - Known for his legendary hybrid of rock and electronica music, this Brooklyn, NY DJ and producer is equally Influenced by New Wave, Rock & Roll, and House music. Tommie’s music is heard everywhere from dance clubs, fashion runways, mainstream tv commercials to video games like NBA 2K6 and Need for Speed, and in addition to playing DJ sets around the globe, he’s become the “go-to” remixer for all things indie and alt-rock. His credits include work with Felix Da Housecat, Miss Kitten, Tomcraft, Shiny Toy Guns, Peaches, Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, Gang of Four, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, among many, many more. His 2008 remix of Yoko Ono’s new version of “Give Peace a Chance” reached #1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play Chart. 

Flosstradamus is the Chicago DJ/production duo comprised of J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci). They played Lollapalooza, put out a mixtape for Scion and Vice Records, toured with Chromeo, A-Trak and Kid Sister, and have remixed acts from Bloc Party to The Cool Kids to Lil Jon.  Flosstradamus has been dominating the party scene nationwide with their tag-team DJ sets (3 turntables, 2 mixers) and their unique mixes of Baltimore club, hip-hop, house, obscure remixes, and juke.  Most recently, you can catch their single “Big Bills” – featuring Caroline Polachek of Chairlift – playing on MTV2. 

Amon Tobin is an experimental electronic artist from Montreal via the UK and Rio de Janeiro Brazil, and is known as one of the most successful artists on the London-based label Ninja Tune. He is also known for his video game scores including Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, as well as through the use of his music in major motion pictures including The Italian Job and 21.  His remix credits include Bebel Gilberto, Airto Moreira and Ninja Tune compatriots Coldcut and Irresistible Force.

Albert Castillo is a prime-time electronic producer and chart-topping pop remixer, who has produced hit remixes for Rihanna, Vanessa Hudgens, Hillary Duff, Musiq Soulchild, Janet Jackson and more. Albert entered the music industry when he produced, wrote and arranged the debut album for Latin techno-pop group, Moenia (earning him a gold record) and soon began remixes for major artists such as Gloria Estefan, Brian McKnight, Vanessa Williams, Boys II Men and Mya, to name a few.  A constantly evolving musician, producer and remixer with over a decade of professional music production experience, Albert currently works out of his Texas-based studio as part of the production groups Al B. Rich and Solitaire, all the while continuing to produce solo chart-toppers.

Nickodemus has been a key element in the NYC dance music scene for over 10 years, releasing 20 original albums and taking his celebrated “Turntables on the Hudson” party on tour around the world.  As a DJ & a producer, he explores the intersection of Urban & World Music with sounds of funk, folk, jazz, hip hop, house & dub.  In addition to recently touring with Thievery Corporation and releasing his new LP “Endangered Species,” the 10-Year Anniversary Box Set celebrating “Turntables on the Hudson” just came out on Nickodemus’s label Wonderwheel Recordings.

Kodomo is electronic producer and three-time Emmy nominee Chris Child, a full-time composer who lives and works in New York City.  Kodomo’s music has been in several video games (including Amplitude, Frequency and the iPod game Phase) and he’s done numerous remixes for electronic artists, including Freezepop’s “Less Talk More Rokk”. 5 Points Records recently released his debut album Still Life.

Joe Claussell is a pioneering world and deep house musician, DJ and producer, seamlessly blending both electronic and organic music into his productions.  With Danny Krivit and Francois K, Joe Claussell was responsible for the most influential underground party of the late 90’s, Body & Soul, and continues to influence electronic music and the dance world to this day.  A world-traveling DJ, record store owner, label executive and artist, he considers himself to be an extension of his environment, “half chaos, 50% peacefulness.”

Cheb i Sabbah is of Berber (Amazigh) descent in Constantine, Algeria, and the idea of mixing cultures is in his blood. He has a history of making records in which he records traditional and classical musicians himself and uses those tracks to create bold, new creations—effectively, music “composed” by a DJ.  Cheb i Sabbah’s most recent record – Devotion – debuted at #1 on the CMJ New World chart, and made it to #13 on Billboard’s Top World Music chart and #22 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart.

Jordan Lieb is a New York City based (Emmy-Award winning) composer, producer, and DJ. A musician all his life, he plays guitar, piano, sings, produces and programs electronic music, and has played his original songs for audiences around the globe. Jordan has written and produced music in a variety of genres, from acoustic folk, and rock n’ roll to electronic dance and techno.  He was featured on Rare Elements: Ustad Sultan Khan as Radar One.
