S.O.B.’S 204 Varick St., at W. Houston St. (212-243-4940)—Barbès, a little bar in Park Slope, Brooklyn, has a postage-stamp-size back room with a thriving music scene. The bar has taken to putting out records, and three of its acts cross the river to Manhattan on the night of Sept. 24. Hazmat Modine, which is led by the singer and harmonica player Wade Schuman, plays feverish blues originals. Las Rubias del Norte have a pair of sweet vocalists, and they rearrange Latin big-band tunes for a small group. Slavic Soul Party is a Balkan brass band. 09/20/06 >> go there
