"A folk 'n' roll-indie collision that brims with energy." - The Word
Canada has produced some of the world's most enduring songwriters and Joel Plaskett is being hailed as one of the best.
In the late spring last year Sir Paul McCartney asked Nova Scotian Joel Plaskett to open his show at Halifax Common. Joel had just released a new album to rave reviews and would soon have a mantelpiece full of Canadian music awards – 'Best Adult Alternative' at the Juno's, 'Best Solo Male' at the Indie Awards, nominated for the Polaris Prize (for a second time) and a clutch of Canadian Folk Music awards.
"Celtic strummers…Nimble power-pop…Clever vocals… and earthy drama." - **** Mail On Sunday
The album that won him so many plaudits at home will have a special release for the UK and Europe in July. From the original triple-album, 'Three', Joel has personally selected thirteen tracks and the resulting collection is 'Three to One'. Joel supported the release with a headline club tour, an appearance at this year's 'Great Escape' and as special guest to Jools Holland on his outdoor summer concert series.
"Plaskett makes his case to follow names like Young, Lightfoot and Cohen." Chart Attack
Joel now returns to the UK this September in support of the new single 'Through & Through & Through' (Sept 27th) and will be touring the UK as special guest of The Barenaked Ladies.
