There are as a rule no surprises on Lo’Jo albums: there will be gravelly waltzes in Denis Péan’s growl of a voice, spiced up with Malian singing and instrumentation. Cinéma El Mundo is no great departure, but it does boast cello from Vincent Segal, singing from Robert Wyatt on the title track, a guest appearance from Tinariwen’s Ibrahim and a south-east Asian excursion, including wobbly erhu, on “Vientiane”. 09/26/12 >> go there
