Showing the absurdities of opposition and the brilliance of musical exploration, these two socially rich  histories collide on these distinct yet-related relaeses.  In the late 1700s, the Mardi Gras Indians helped African slaves deal with their social oprrission.  These two cultures contibuted to an important, overlooked musical fusion that men like Big Chief Monk Boudreaux have been educating us about.  Mr. Stranger Man continues Boudreaux's lifelong quest of fusing raggae, funk, R and B, jazz etc. into one damn hot down home cajun jam.  Featuring guests Dr. John and Cyril Neville, thier take on traditionals ("Sew Sew Sew," "Firewater") and smokin' originals ("In the Morning," "Katie Mae") will have you knee-slapping, thigh clapping, and hip shaking  for days.  The tasteful commingling of slide guitar, horns, and Bourdeaux's worn, boisterous voice will make you seek out the culture behind the tunes.  Meanwhile, another misconception (the white cowboy) has been explored by native Lousianian Geno Delafose, Creole by birthright.  Everybody's Dancin is his sonic dedication to the accordion driven Zydeco music of rural ancestry.  Bent on energetic groove-oriented jams, his fourth album is a barnyard waltzer's paradise.  When "Good Time Woman" and the title track hit the airwaves, there's little to do but submit and get down.
