The third week of the 16th Annual Cape May Music Festival begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, when Geno Delafose and his band French Rockin Boogie bring their rollicking zydeco music to Cape May Convention Hall's stage.

Zydeco is the popular music of southern Louisiana that combines French dance melodies, elements of Caribbean msuic, and the blues, played by small groups featuring guitar, accordion, and washboard.

A native of Eunice, a small town in southwest Louisiana's French triangle, Delafose was born into a family of Zydeco musicians. At the age of seven he picked up the rubboard and was soon accompanying his father's influential band, the Eunice Playboys. Well-known for his charismatic cowboy spirit and lively presentation, Delafose has realeased four albums with his band, French Rockin' Boogie. He was named Best Zydeco Artist at the 2003 Big Easy Awards in New Orleans.

Tickets to the French Rockin' Boogie concert are $22 general admission, $18 seniors and $10 students. 

The festival continues on Tuesday, June 7 with the New York Chamber Ensemble's program "Hark the Echoing Air" featuring the English Baroque music of Henry Pureell and George Handel with special guest harpsichordist and host Robert Wolinsky. The ensemble will perform Mathew Locke's "The Tempest," highlights from Purcell's "The Fairy Queen" and Handel's Flute Sonata in C Major.

Wolinsky is returning to Cape May for his second performance with the New York Chamber En semble. He will share his vast knowledge of this music with his inimitable "spoken program notes." Wolinsky has been a member of the St. Lufee's Chamber Ensemble since 1976, appearing as concerto soloist, charober musician, and orchestral continuo. He has recorded several Bach harpsichord concertos with St. Luke's for the MusicMasters label. A regular , guest of many prominent ensembles, Wolinsky has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, Boston Chamber Music Society, and Lincoln Center  Chamber Music Society and has appeared at many festivals including Caramoor. Mostly Mozart, Salzburg, Ravinia, and Music from Angel Fire, among others.

The New York Chamber Ensemble performance begins at 8 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Washington and Franklin streets. Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 seniors and $5 student.

On Thursday, June 9, the Bay-Atlantic Symphony performs its third concert of the festival at Cape May Convention Hall at 8 p.m "A-May-Zing Mozart" features three works by one of the Victorians' favorite composers, Mozart. The program includes Mozart's Overture to Don Giovanni, Flute Concerto No.l G Major, and Symphony No. 39 in Eb Major. Soloist Susan Rotholz will perform the flute concerto.

Rotholz has won numerous awards since her critically acclaimed debut as the recipient of the Concert Artists Guild Award in 1981. She has performed with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the New York Philharmonic, and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, among many others. Rotholz is on the faculties of Columbia University, Hunter College and the Manhattan School of Music and is the principal flutist of the New England Bach Festival, the New York Chamber Ensemble, and the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra.

"A-May-Zing Mosart" tickets cost $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors and $10 for students.
