Where have all of these Brazilian women been hiding? Oh yeah, I forgot for a minute that the music biz is run by white men. Thank goodness for the person that opened the door and let this lady inside! Merging Brazilian electronic beats with pop sensibility to create lovely ballads, Mylene has created an album that sets herself apart from the rest. There is something more romantic and nuanced about this album as if she wants us to find a partner to dance with instead of dancing alone. There is nothing forced or contrived here, just amber-colored pieces that fit nicely to complete the airy tunes. The cover of Eleanor Rigby (Beatles song) is a nice change of pace for the rest of the album. So what is my critique? It's too short! (Review by Sassy Lee) 11/15/03
