One of Parada [De Lucas]’s producers, percussionist Ramiro Mussoto, also works wonders on singer Mylene’s self-titled disc.  The restrained passion of her voice sails through the instrumental foreground background, and up again on such tracks as “Nela Lagoa.”  The panoply of percussion and samples on “Longa Longa Noite” also provides room for Chiquinho Chagas’ cool accordion lines and Mylene’s solid minimoog playing.  Still, Mylene should have picked a better Beatles cover than the shopworn “Eleanor Rigby.”
