[Exceprt]
Brazilian music is all the rage, and Mylene and Ramiro Musotto have groovy new albums out. Mylene's self-titled debut combines electonica with bossa nova and samba. Her smooth vocals sound somewhere between countrywoman Bebel Gilberto and Cibelle. Musotto's "Sudaka" mines the primal roots of today's drum'n'bass and rave music. It's a brilliantly experimental exploration of percussive noise, with Amazon Indiana chants and Candomble spirit rhythms layered in. 11/28/03
