Brazilian producer and percussionist Musotto juxtaposes field recordings with drum ‘n’ bass elements and the results are both surprisingly coherent and highly addictive. On the track “Xavantes,” for example, Amazonian warrior chants and electronic beats are mixed, revealing something new about both. Equally fine is “Botellero,” which samples the calls of a rag-and-bone man on his rounds. For once, “Sudaka” is a past/present exchange that’s timeless.
