World music takes center stage with the release of “Raise Your Spirit Higher – Wenyukela” by Ladysmith Black Mambazo on the Heads Up International Record Label.  This is their first album since 1997 and it features an entirely new array of material.  Born during the turbulent era of South African Apartheid, Ladysmith Black Mambazo have established themselves as one of world music’s premier groups.  In spite of the hardships experienced as a result of adversity, personal tragedy and political unrest, Joseph Shabalala and his band of merry men have taken their songs of change to every corner of the world.  In the process, the 10-member group of singers and storytellers has embraced the healing power of music.  Through the experience, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has elevated their pain and suffering to a higher level of spiritual awakening.  Their latest CD scheduled for release January 27, 2004 provides a renewed perspective on the political and social upheavals in today’s world.  This ambitious project is the latest in a series of outstanding Heads Up Africa series of recordings. 01/01/04
