Ladysmith Black Mambazo performs at 8 p.m. Thursday as part of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, at the Power Center, 121 Fletcher St. Leader Joseph Shabalala and his 10-man Zulu a cappella group transform serious themes into joyous and celebratory songs using only the musical energy of bass and tenor voices. Opening is Vusi Mahlasela, a veritable superstar in South Africa, where he earned the nickname "The Voice" for his ability to glide effortlessly across octaves from a tenor to a sinewy soprano.
