Global Village Idiot, CD Review >>
None of the new-style salsa for this outfit. This is strictly harcore and old fashioned, but with the kind of style to pack the dance floor. A heavy accent on the percussion, and the horns positively smoke through the numbers. Vocalist and leader Rei Alvarez has a wonderfully resonant voice, and his writing (five of the eight pieces here) is also outstanding. Nothing kind or gentle, just gallons of sweat - and that's purely from listening! 01/01/04 >> go there
