LOCUTOR/
Bio Ritmo (CD)

Bio Ritmo is a group that vows not to subscribe to the Modern Latin Music scene, fronted by lead singer Rei Alvarez.  With their self-titled album, the band strives to capture the general aesthetic concept of the classic salsa sound.  They manage to take the spirit of old salsa and inject it with the experimental aesthetics of soul and rock.  Feel the infectious rhythms of cuts as, “El Monte (The Hill),” trailed by “El Cambio (The Change),” sprinkled with bomba- which is a rhythm from Ponce, Puerto Rico, and the mind-wandering time Alvarez spent on “La Hamaca (The Hammock,” The Brazilian-flavored “Atrevete (Do It If You Dare)” continues the fun with the samba neat of “Fabula (The Fable)” close behind – while “Hermano (Brother)” expresses bits of wisdom to live by.  The high-spirited “Para Los Romperos” is followed by the encouraging “El Rayito (The Little Ray – of hope),” something we can all identify with.  It sounds like Bio Ritmo has captured the sound the sought, and it’s good!
