Papo Lucca y La Sonora Poncena+Bio Ritmo
Balancing adventurous sonic concepts with hook-laden songs, the chemistry of this double bill is both PR-rooted bands' refusal to be limited by the usual salsa disco. Lucca inherited Sonora Porcena from his dad and kept it going even when the Fania All Stars requested the spiking rhythms of his keyboards. Out of another tropical mad lab, Bio Ritmo, named after the '70s craze for the body's natural beats, began as an all-percussion outfit, and then eased into a more danceable salsa classica.
