Boban Markovic, an award winning Serbian Gypsy trumpeter now includes his 15 year old trumpeter son Marko in his Gypsy brass band the Boban Markovic Orkestar.

Markovic leads his band in playing traditional Gypsy brass band music with a nod to jazz and other modern influences. This music of Southern Serbia bears the oriental influence of earlier Turkish conquerors and the military bands of later imperial governments. Markovic and the band exhibit great technical skill especially when playing the rapid-fire lines of some of the tunes.

Like most music of the world, Gypsy music has many styles. This recording is a good introduction to the Serbian brass band style, to a master trumpeter Boban Markovic and to his protñ쳌 and son Marko.
