Though it hails from Serbia and plays plenty of gypsy folk and wedding tunes, the 10-piece Boban Markovic Orkestar would fit right in at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It offers a combustible, bottom-heavy mix of roiling fluegelhorns, funky beats, and hard-strutting tenor horns (the tuba’s close cousin). Leader Markovic is an amazing fluegelhornist, admired by no less an authority than Miles Davis. He sings passionately, too. Yet while three fluegels flail and flutter, and a snaky sax chimes in, it’s those tenor horns that deliver the knockout punches to your gut. (7:30 p.m. Wed., Cedar Cultural Center. $12 - $20.)
