Another expatriate, the Angolan singer-songwriter Bonga, has released his best album in years, "Kaxexe" (Times Square), and is playing at Satalla next Sunday and at Joe's Pub April 5. Like Kekele, Bonga's album swings softly and should appeal to fans of Cesaria Evora, Susana Baca and any number of Brazilian musicians. With his raspy voice, a mix of honey and grit, Bonga sings over gently insistent rhythms, alternating between soulful lamentations and breezier songs. 03/21/04 >> go there
