For the next several days, performances in theater, spoken word, music, dance, plus art and film by artists of Latino heritage abound at the 8th Annual JP Morgan Chase Latino Cultural Festival, which opened last night and will continue through next Saturday at Queens Theatre in the Park.

Tonight, renowned singer/songwriter Julieta Venegas of Mexico, with accordion in tow, will make her premiere festival appearance at 8 p.m. Super Ubu will serve up the distinctive flavor of the Latin and Caribbean sounds of bachata, changui, merengue and son at 8 p.m. tomorrow.

Bring the family and prepare to participate with Sol y Canto, the bilingual musical family, in a performance of children's songs and dance rhythms on Saturday at 1 p.m. The music will continue in the evening as Son Cafe, led by timbalero Ralph Irizarry, fuses salsa pura, son cubano and swing with the vocal prowess of Sonora Matancera, Jorge Maldonado and Elsa Ozuna at 8 p.m.

Fusion Tango, a beautiful blend of tango with modern dance, makes its mark at 7 p.m. Sunday. Reserve a space and enjoy a free tango class before the show.

The remainder of the festival will include a film on Monday, vocal sensations on Tuesday and Friday, contemporary dance on Wednesday, poetry and spoken word next Thursday and a free Sesame Workshop (reservations required) next Saturday. Queens Theatre in the Park is in Flushing-Meadows Corona Park. Tickets cost $20 to $35. For information, reservations and tickets, call (718) 760-0064.
