Prominent South African singer Miriam Makeba has released a stunning
new album called Reflections on the Heads Up label. Makeba was an
outspoken critic of apartheid, upon leaving South Africa in the 60s and
later married Black Panther leader Stokely Carmichael. Her career was
resurrected in 1987 when she performed with Paul Simon on the Graceland
Tour. Makeba returned to South Africa in 1990 and now lives there, a
free citizen. The beauty of this woman's voice is as vast and wonderous
as the country she hails from.
