NEW CIRCLES 8/5

Miriam Makeba "Reflections": Many moon ago, my mom had an album by Harry Belafonte, "Live at Carnegie Hall." One of the tracks featured a young lady from Africa, named Miriam Makeba. She did a song "The Click Song." My brother and I loved this track, because the woman sang her song and her voice "clicked" while she sang, something that was common with her people.
Makeba is still singing, and this CD, although disappointing at first because of its big production element, is nevertheless a wonderful collection of tunes. Makeba works her magic with songs by Van Morrison, The Manhattans, Hugh Masekela and her own compositions. Even the slick production can't hide the beauty and sincerity of this treasure.
