Toledo City Paper, CD review >>
Choying Drolma and Steve Tibbets "Selwa": In 1997 ECM guitarist Steve Tibbetts collaborated with Buddhist nun Choying Drolma and released an East meets West CD entitled "Cho." Seven years later (and many imitations gone by) the two have come together again for "Selwa" on the fine Six Degrees label. "Selwa" means clear, luminous, awake -- all terms used to describe a Buddhist peaceful state of mind -- and the connection is obvious. Though the music could be used in place of Riddlan for kids, it's serenity is oh so pacific and dignified. Remember folks, there's more to music than three chord thump-thump, and this piece is a blessing upon one's badgered ears. 10/07/04
