Get on board!  QPAC has a highly exciting season ahead, beginning with a concert celebration of the soulful and inspirational music of Latin American Women.  Putumayo Presents: Women of Latin America will be appearing at the Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC) on Sunday, October 17th, 2004 at 3:00 p.m.

This cross-section of contemporary and traditional Latin American music includes performances by Toto La Momposina (Colombia), known for her powerful and spontaneous live performances, Mariana Montalvo (Chile), providing fresh interpretations of the traditional music of Chile and Belo Velloso (Brazil) who is the niece of two of Brazil’s most popular musicians, Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethania.  Belo’s own talent gets her praise from The New York Times, declaring that “Belo touches the melodies as if they come straight from the heart.”

The Queensborough Performing Arts Center welcomes Susan Agin as their new Managing and Artistic Director.  Ms. Agin brings to the college an extensive background in artistic direction and management and as a lifetime Queens’ resident, Susan is committed to serving the community with programs that reflect the borough’s diversity and artistic interests.
