NYC Nights

 

Tuesday night at 7:30, Emeline Michel, one of Haiti's top singers will celebrate her latest release, "Rasin Kreyol" (Homestead), with a performance at Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette St.

  Michel sings politically charged lyrics in a graceful voice that wafts above a mix of traditional and contemporary Haitian rhythms.  Her music is reminiscent of the great Haitian band Boukman Eksperyans and the soul singer India.Arie.
