The math is impressive: 13 musical acts from five continents performing on three stages. Last weekend may have been the party weekend of the new year, but tomorrow night's globalFEST is a heck of a segue.

World music -- which expands its free-form definitions to include jazz, classical, pop and electronica -- will be the focus of a celebration at the Public Theater, where a $40 ticket allows access to all three performance platforms all night.

Expect plenty of experimental as well as traditional sounds, and an array of multicultural and roots music. The event, which debuted in New York a year ago, is co-produced by the Public, the World Music Institute, and World Music/ CRASHarts, Boston.

Among the performers scheduled are West Africa's Mory Kanté, making his first appearance in New York in 14 years; the Japanese shamisen crossover artists the Yoshida Brothers; Argentinian folk singer Juana Molina, and Rokia Traoré, a singer-songwriter from Mali. The event closes with a DJ party showcasing bhangra, Bollywood and Asian Underground beats from DJ Rekha.

The festival runs from 7:30 until midnight tomorrow, with doors opening at 6 p.m. in the main lobby of the Public, 425 Lafayette St. in Manhattan. Call 212-239-6200.
