In Zimbabwe, the bare necessities are out of reach for many. Food has been scarce for quite some time.
And today, thousands of Zimbabweans found themselves without transportation in the midst of the country's worst gasoline shortage in years. Hardship is part and parcel of daily life in Zimbabwe.
International condemnation of President Robert Mugabe's autocratic rule has isolated Zimbabwe from the rest of the world. But that hasn't kept Zimbabwean singer-songwriter Oliver Mtukudzi from venturing out into the world on his own.
He's touring North America, presenting his vast body of tunes rooted in Zimbabwean daily life.
Oliver Mtukudzi has just begun a tour of the United States and he's made a stop in our Boston studios on his way to his next set of concerts.
