North African Groove is an eclectic mix of influences including Arabic, Spanish, Cuban and international pop. It features artists from every North African country. One of the tracks is the Algerian superstar Khaled's ‘Aicha', a French-language track – first released in 1996, which was the first song by an Arab artist to reach number one in France. The new CD will be played throughout the summer at music festivals around the world.

It will be released in Europe on May 24 by the American-based recording company, Putumayo, which has specialized in world music for the past decade.

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is a non-profit organization which has been working for the past 20 years to transform the way the world deals with conflict; away from adversarial approaches, towards cooperative solutions, using a broad range of operational methods. This ‘toolbox' includes well-known conflict resolution techniques, such as mediation and facilitation, and less traditional ones, like TV productions, radio soap opera, and community organizing.

SFCG seeks cross-cultural integration and since 1991 it has been carrying out a multi-track programme to promote peace, cooperation and security in the Middle East by working with Israelis and Palestinians. SFCG also works in Morocco and has projects in 13 other countries. Since 2001, Search for Common Ground has been working in Morocco with Moroccan society to enhance the capacity of individuals and institutions to resolve conflicts cooperatively. 05/04/05 >> go there
