Think of Cape Verde and the great Cesaria Evora's name comes to mind.The next generation, however, is rnaking its presence felt. Tete Alhinho's persive Voz was one of my favourire albums of last year, and I suspect Lura's more extrovert display may well be in contention this time. Part of the generation that has left the islands to settle in Europe, this singer possesses an astute ear for a pop hook. Di Korpu Ku Alma (Of Body and Soul), is a delight that deserves to be one of the hits of the summer. Though her voice is lighter and her songs tend not to be quite so prone to melancholia, Lura knows how to stir the emotions.
