By Lauren Capolupo

Although she lives in Lisbon, Portugal, singer Lura_ focuses on her Cape Verdean roots when it comes to music. Her latest album, Di Korpu Ku Alma, or Of Body and Soul, draws on several traditional Cape Verdean styles, including the sensual accordion-based funana and the improvisational, beat-driven batuku. Her songs reflect the strong African culture of Santiago, the Cape Verde island her father came from. Lura brings her body and soul stateside on Sept. 9 when she performs in the Aetna Theater at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, 600 Main Street, Hartford. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. (860) 278- 2670- www.wadsworthatheneum.org.
