In Lura's second album, Di Korpu Ku Alma (Of Body And Soul), the Cape Verde native's earnest, resonant and sensual voice coalesces with her effort to showcase the range of musical styles found on her native archipelago. She seamlessly melds Portuguese lyrics and instrumentals with the melodies and rhythms of her home, simultaneously stimulating and calming with her quietly erotic sound.
Lura's on a grueling album promotion tour that hits Denver's own Swallow Hill tonight. She admits to being "a little afraid" before embarking on her journey, but says now that she's feeling right at home in the United States. "The public is very attentive," she says, and "very kind with me."
