Since his 2002 debut CD Carolina, guitarist- singer Seu Jorge has become one of Brazil's biggest stars. This live concert DVD, recorded at last summer's Montreux Jazz Festival, puts him in the middle of his touring quintet, consisting of three percussionists (one of whom doubles on a small, four-stringed guitar) and an electric bassist. Jorge has an easy-going stage manner that is at odds with the precision of the music. As vocalist, he sometimes wanders out of tune for a verse or for an entire song, which would be annoying if it weren't for the superb musicality of the group. The highlights here are a pair of solo numbers Jorge performs: and concert-closing percussion extravaganza. 06/23/06
