AfroPean hip-hop crew Ade Bantu (Brothers Keepers) play a form of music known as “fuji” that’s massively popular in Nigeria. Fuji has its roots in Nigeria’s Muslim Yoruba group and was of course named after the mountain. The sound is a alchemy of guitar rock, polyrhythmic tribal percussion, Arab-esque Islamic vocals, organ sounds, and Bantu throws in his own German hip-hop influences. The resulting amalgam is tremendous and will hold your attention tightly for the duration of the album and if you’re not dancing and grooving along by the second or third track, you may want to check your pulse. Be sure to check out the bonus video on the enhanced CD too!
