Baka Beyond - Rhythm Tree

Baka Beyond boasts band members from Brittany, Cameroon, Senegal, Sierra Leone Ghana, and Britain.  Their ability to blend the rhythms and melodies of Africa with Celtic traditions old and new is truly refreshing.  Martin Cradick and Su Hart have created a rapport with the Bakas that began in 1992, allowing them to gather brilliant musicians from the Cameroon rainforest on each visit.  Music recorded both in the UK and the rainforest.  Pick your unique favorites from the brief "Call of the Forest," trailed by the free chants and guitar work of "Kobo," the cross-cultural (Scotland) "Sad Among Strangers," plus "Boulez Boulez" the first guitar using their traditional rhythms, and hit the halfway mark with the little cut, "Rhythm Tree."  That's just the half of it, as Baka begs to be heard with - "Hush Hush" a Scottish tune played at JFK's funeral, "Bokissa is a song about the gorilla,  "La Londe" was learned from the Baka children, while "Shimina" is usually used in many rituals, and "Call of the Forest" is the final call.  The music from this album has returned royalties to the Bakas for thier use!
