Kongo Maam {Wotid Village)

Malian guitarist Boubacar Traore was influenced by African-American blues, but his ruminative African music was also shaped by the traditions of his homeland, where some of the roots of blues can be found. Playing low-key songs in a style molded by local string instruments, and accompanied by harmonica, accordion, xylophone, harp and percussion, his weary yet hopeful songs suggest what may have resulted if a Mississippi Delta bluesman, circa 1930, had emigrated to West Africa and formed a band.
