Covering three stages within the space of The Public Theater (including the one at Joe's Pub), GlobalFest features a big lineup of musicians from all over the, well, globe. Folk chanteuse Keren Ann isn't the most worldly-signifying among them (she sometimes sings in French, but the language of heartbreak is so universal!), though others -- like Senegalese hip-hop crew Daara J, flamenco guitarist Juan Carmona, Iranian-Indian electronic fusion group Niyaz, and New York gyspy dance band Balkan Beat Box -- stand to blow out borders with more force.
