Krakauer CD puts a new spin on klezmer
Klezmer Madness- Virtuoso clarinetist David Krakauer continues hsi innovative approach to klezmer music with the new album, Bubbemeises: Lies My Gramma Told Me (Label Bleu). The album features another collaboration with SoCalled, who brings the hip hop beats and chazanut samples. In addition to the release of Bubbemeises, Krakauer--who played in Minneapolis with his Klezer Madness ensemble two years ago--will perform a world premiere of his work with James Brown, Bootsy Collins and Parliament-Funkadelic) at Carnegie Hall. Also ahead is the New York premiere of the string orchestra version of Osvaldo Golijov's The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra. To reject his music, Krakauer responds, "It's just what it is." 12/01/06
