DAVID KRAKAUER'S KLEZMER MADNESS
Bubbemeises
••••
An exotic adventure from the comfort of your CD
(Label Bleu) The subtitle to this record is "Lies My Gramma Told Me," and the music does seem like it was crafted from tall tales from an era gone by. The clarinet loop and accordion "lalala" and "dadada" at the beginning of this interesting, varied album are impressive and very catchy,- they make you want to tap your foot, clap your hands, jump up and down. Part Eastern European, Far Eastern, Middle Eastern and more, this record is a whirlwind world tour of melodies, instruments and sounds. It has charm and character bursting from each note. "Moscovitz and Loops of It" is a perfect example of the eclecticism and energy this album emotes. It just goes off. like a plane hurtling towards the sky. It is suggested you hitch a ride.
