Province, CD Review >>
Sadly, this Paris-based Lebanese master of the oud (Arabic lute) gets as much ink for his outspoken views on Mid-East politics as he does for his gorgeous playing. This hour-long all-instrumental piece breaks down into three parts, ranging from the dancing, near Moorish "Part One" to the far more meditative "Part Two," "Part Three." All through, double bassist Peter Herbert drives the ship and Bachar Khalife adds percussive asides. Pianist Rami Khalife will join the ensemble at its local performance. A 10/02/07 >> go there
