JULIA SARR-PATRICE LAROSE/Set Luna:
Their 5th gig was at Carnegie Hall under the aegis of Youssou N'Dour presenting the best of new Africa. A debut recording for both players, this is an African/Flamenco fusion that is a mind blowing ear opener that is just up the alley of world beaters that trust anything within six degrees of separation of Peter Gabriel. Letting the genre splicing lead the music where it will, this duo plays off each other like this is an act that has had a long time to gel and get that synchronized thinking that comes from hard work. Sometimes, it just flows like it does here given gel from spontaneity that comes together in a natural unison. A sure bet for world beats to fall in love with.
