Ugandan refugee and musician Samite presents us with his new record “Embalasasa”, which translates to yellow lizard but also is a parable for AIDS. Hearing an album like this with such passion and subdued torment is a heavy reminder of what is transpiring in Africa. The music is melodic and swirling with visionary bits and bites that strike emotions deep in your soul. He collects kalimba (thumb pianos) and plays them on this record and live showing us their unique African heritage. Beautiful and sobering all at once. 02/07/06 >> go there
