Ugandan songwriter Samite also believes in the healing power of music, though his technique is much more restrained. He founded Musicians for World Harmony and now travels all over Africa with his kalimba (thumb piano), playing for children who are affected by AIDS. Samite's latest record, "Embalasasa" (Triloka), is strangely soothing, as it dances between traditional African music and Western pop.
