Arielle Dombasle
AmorAmor
The beautiful French film star Arielle Dombasle saunters on through her sixth decade with a collection of pre-rock and roll orchestral pop. Her quavering voice, like Nancy Sinatra's, is not the strongest in the world, but her sassy embrace of such standards as As Time Goes By has a girlish charm. She revels in the Spanish language and Latin instrumentation, enjoying a duet with a husky baritone older man - Julio Iglesias, rather than Lee Hazlewood - on a Spanish version of Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps. Dombasle's is dinner-club cabaret music with a wink and a twist.
