ASHA BHOSLE/Love Supreme: Now this is a nutty twofer. Take a little bit of Marni Nixon, a little bit of Celia Cruz and a little bit of the illusion that powers the movie industry and you get a set of love songs in Indian from the most recorded female vocalist in Bollywood. With a 50 year career in Bollywood films behind her, she is the most dubbed in vocalist in the whole Bollywood industry. At 72, she gets a chance to step out in front of a world wide audience that's just coming to terms with Bollywood and she does a great job of delivering a contemporary performances that seems like it should becoming from a woman half her age. Just when you think you've got world beat figured out, it takes another left turn and catches you by surprise all over again. Light and easy well done stuff that you really don't need to understand the words to appreciate. It could even make yoga classes more interesting when played in the background.9050 (Times Square) 03/28/06 >> go there
