If you've ever seen an Indian movie, you'll probably recognize Asha Bhosle's timeless, nimble voice. She and her sister, Lata Mangeshkar, have provided the female vocals on a mind- boggling number of Hollywood nits; Lata has retired, but Asha just keeps rolling on. (Yes. trainspotters, she's the one Cornershop is singing about in "Brimful Of Asha.") This album presents eight ghazals, or lover's dialogues, set in a bunch of different styles. While ttie melodies are all still rooted firmly in Indian classical music, the backing tracks range from the disco-funk of "Aawargi" to the ambient blues of "Mujhe Turn Nazar Se." Throughout it all, Bhosfe is in perfect her voice is just as supple and as sexy now, after 12,000 recorded songs, as it was back in the days of "Eena Meena Deeka."
