It's one thing to dip into the deep musical well of the motherland and then run home to a recording studio. Berry, an American, lived and studied in Zimbabawe from the age of 18 and speaks fluent Shona. So he truly took in the vibes and made them his own. That's why Panjea are not just another Bay Area mishmash band of dancehall, African, and R&B influences: they stay true to their world inspirations.
