Thumb pianist performing at Sarah Sreet Grill
Chris Berry and Panjea, internationally-known band blending hip-hop, dance hall and indigenous music, will perform tonight and Saturday at the Sarah Street Grill in Stroudsburg.
Berry spent over a decade of his life in Zimbabwe studying his instrument, the mbira (thumb piano). He's been deemed a master of the instrument as a result of these studies abroad. Along with Panjea, Berry earned platinum record sales throughout Zimbabwe and parts of Africa. The band has toured all over the world, including a special performing appearance at the 2000 Olympics. They're currently on tour with their new album, Chris Berry Dancemakers, released in April 2006.
