When an album is described as world music joined with electronica, expect to be subjected to yet more terrible "world fusion" garbage. Especially if the fact that the musician uses a laptop as an instrument is mentioned as if it's going to impress me rather than just make me nauseous. Take it and Drive is a surprise by virtue of being interesting, instead of sickening. With the exception of a track that brings to mind unpleasant images of a sleazy Arabic disco ["Fatwords (Semick's Say Aah Remix)"], the "electronica" on this album sounds like dub's lost Middle Eastern cousin, or some imaginary collaboration between DJ Spooky and Muslimgauze. Take it and Drive may not be anything too exceptionally new or unique, but it manages to update traditional Middle Eastern and African music without creating the usual whitewashed mess.
