UK/Cuba collaboration called Ska Cubano blends Jamaica ska with the big band blasts of classic Cuban mambo and son, along with a touch of Colombian cumbia. The result is 14 catchy and danceable trackson Ay Caramba!, featuring a misture of many different styles. Come aboard the musical journey that will have every part of you body moving, via "Soy Campesino (I'm A Country Man)," the humorous "Ay Caramba!," the exotic rhythms of "Tabu (Taboo)," the tantalizing lyrics of "No Me Desesperes (Don't Drive Me Crazy)," and the risque "Big Bamboo." Natty Bo and Beny Billy carry the vocals, continuing via the hand-clapping "Tungarara," move to the rhumba rhythms of "Cachita," the eternal argument "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)," singing praises of Cuba's "Marianao," plus "Jezebel" a song that was the first worldwide hit for Frankie Laine in 1951.
Ska Cubano completes their explosive CD with "Bobine," a Haitian merengue, delivering their final barrage with "Cumbia En Do Menor (Cumbia in C Minor)." You don't have to speak the language to enjoy this album! 06/16/06
