Azam Ali was the female half of the acclaimed world music du Vas, a group that drew comparisons to Dead Can Dance.  She continues to weave a rich global tapestry on her second solo CD.  The trilling ululations and seductive melancholy of Ali's voice, the steady-going rhythms and the haunting Eastern melodies generated through layers of acoustic and electronic instruments keep one eye on her Iranian heritage and the other on wider horizons.  Ali's music honors the past while respecting the present. 07/27/06
