Vocalist and composer Azam Ali was born in Iran, grew up in India, and now in resides in Los Angeles. Ali's second solo album, Elysium for the Brave, is a blend of music from around the world. It's a mix of traditional rhythms with a sense of moody film music and overtones blanketing the whole sound. The result is a gorgeous and hypnotic album. She never loses sight of the warmth of time-tested rhythms even through her use of atmospheric electronics. That makes sense since Ali has numerous film scores to her credit. She has collaborated with several bands including Vas and Nivaz. On this record she sings mostly in English and wrote all the lyrics that are sung with a haunting voice. 10/03/06
